The guest list
Invite people to the whole day or just the evening, track who has replied, and keep plus-ones attached to the person who brought them. Headcounts update themselves as replies come in, so the number you give the caterer is the number you actually have.
Dietary requirements and access needs sit on the guest, not in a note somewhere else. When you hand the venue a list, everything they need to know is already on it.
Seating
Lay the room out with the tables you actually have — round, long, top table, whatever the venue gives you — then drag guests into seats. The app keeps count of who is still unseated, so you know when you're done rather than hoping.
Print it or export it as a PDF when the venue asks for a plan, and again on the morning when something inevitably changes.
Money
Set what you expect to spend by category, record what you have actually been quoted, and log deposits as they go out. The gap between estimate and actual is the whole point, so it is never more than a glance away.
The day itself
A wedding is not one event. Yours might be a ceremony, a reception and an evening party — or a registry office at eleven and a pub at seven. You define the parts, and everything else follows: guests are invited to a part, suppliers are booked for a part, schedules belong to a part.
Nothing is hard-coded, so a two-day celebration or a single afternoon both fit without pretending to be the other.
Everything else
Partner one and partner two
The app asks for two partners' names, and that is all it asks. Not a bride and a groom, not a hierarchy, not a form that only works for some couples. It is the only version that is right for everybody, so it is the only version there is.
Privacy
Everything lives on your device. Subscribe, and it syncs through your own iCloud to your other devices — your Apple ID, Apple's servers, and nothing of ours in between. There is no account to create with us, and no copy of your guest list on a server we control.
Occasion: Event Planner is the same app without a single assumption that you're getting married — birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, work parties and fundraisers.
